Making Your Way
Denali National Park is found in the interior of Alaska and is reachable by train or road. Located at approximately Milepost 236 of the George Park Highway (Alaska 3), the Park is roughly 240 miles north of Anchorage and 125 miles south of Fairbanks. Cars and RV's may be rented in Anchorage or Fairbanks and driven to Denali. Contact us if you would like assistance.
Commercial airlines fly into both Anchorage and Fairbanks throughout the year. During the summer months, the Alaska Railroad Corporation makes daily trips from both cities to Denali. The Park Connection, a private motor coach company, also offers daily luxury coach service between Anchorage and Denali. Contact us and we can assist you in making transportation reservations from either Anchorage or Fairbanks to Denali.
- If arriving via cruise ship into Whittier or Seward, ask about transportation options and overnight accommodations that you can add on to your Denali packages.
Alaska Railroad
The Alaska Railroad route spans more than 500 miles from Seward to the entrance of Denali National Park and Preserve on to Fairbanks. Friendly hospitality, born of Alaska’s frontier spirit, lives on at the Alaska Railroad through the tour guides and onboard services staff. We can assist you in making transportation reservations via Alaska Railroad. Please call our central reservations office of 1-800-276-7234 or email us at info@denaliparkresorts.com. Don’t forget to book your shuttle service between the Denali Train Depot and your hotel. The depot is located several miles from most hotels and taxi service is not readily available.
Exploring Denali National Park
To preserve Denali National Park’s sub-arctic ecosystem, private vehicle traffic is limited. Beyond the Savage River Bridge, located 15 miles inside the park, visitors must travel by foot, bicycle (limited to paved roads only) or shuttle bus. Visit our Tours page for more information on easy access into Denali National Park.
Courtesy Shuttle Buses
Denali Park Resorts offers complimentary shuttle buses between lodging properties and the Denali Visitor Center, Wilderness Access Center, or the Lynx Creek Convenience Store. The shuttle runs approximately every hour. Ask your front desk for hours of operation. Many activities in Denali also offer courtesy transportation from most hotels to their facility. Inquire about courtesy transportation when making reservations.
Other Transportation Options
If you want to explore Denali on your own and at a leisurely pace, we suggest renting a bicycle. Both 1/2-day and full- day rentals are available, complete with helmets and bike locks.
